West Coast 2004 Tour-
The
images below are from the eastbound, return home leg. It was 5 days of
unsurpassed riding and scenery. The weather was perfect on each one of them, in
the morning I couldn't wait to get on the road to see what awaited
me.
A
peaceful looking US 50 near the Utah-Nevada border. On this day the temp was
unusually cool, and the big blue sky made me feel small. The ride on this
road, on this day, went into the Hall of Fame.
Although
not for sure, I think this is a shot of US 50 cresting Antelope Pass, just east
of Ely. The highway offers good opportunities for leaning as it crosses
several mountain passes dissecting Nevada.
I
found this scenic ranch nestled in the Central Utah mountains on US 89.
The ride east from Utah to Colorado was magnificent.
An
early summer's day comes to a close on this tranquil Kansas field. I've
always found late afternoon rides rewarding. I was enroute to Joplin,
Missouri when I stopped to admire the wild flowers growing in this deserted
field along US 400.
I
traversed Colorado on SR 14 under this stunning blue sky. I'm
heading for the mountains in the distance, where the road will curve, and the
mountain canyons will block the most radiant sunlight I'd ever witnessed.
It just doesn't get any better. The ride of a lifetime, I think back to
it often.
Wauneta,
Nebraska, a typical town on the Great Plains of America. The ever present
grain elevator, a post office, town hall, and a few stores. The small
white sign in the middle of the road reminded residents mosquito spraying
commenced at 7 pm, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Sometimes you wonder just what were they
thinking. This small community near Kearney, Nebraska goes by the name
"Funk"
You
will find this slalom run on SR 62 near Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Paul
D. captured this picture for me high in the Sierra Mountains of the Hotel
California, near Carson Pass.
