Exploring North America...One Road at a Time

" I've got to be free...free to face life that's ahead of me".....

The following pictures are from the U.K., and East Coast rides of 2005.  Two great, but very different tours.  So instead of sailing away with me, come ride away.

This picture, captured somewhere in Scottish Highlands, found the VFR and I taking a break.  I liked the VFR and found it fun to ride, but for what I do, I prefer a more touring slanted sport-touring bike.

A twisting, narrow road descends from the Scottish Highlands to a valley farm.  I was on a mountain top with Uncle Phil and David when I took this photo.

This curvy road is near Moffat, Scotland.  We were on the road to south England on this morning, but not before we took a few back roads to the motorway.  It was good riding, and the adventure of lifetime. I'm sure I'll return to Europe and the U.K., just not sure when.

Here I am a overlooking the cliffs at Mintak Theatre in southern England.  That's Colin Baker sharing a quiet moment with me.  My adventures over the years have granted me the good fortune of making friends all over North America, and the United Kingdom.

Here we are trapped in a English village on a Saturday morning.  Riding in the UK is a  different experience.  I find the biggest difference is the lack of open space.  There is ALWAYS something ahead to test you. The Brits are excellent riders.  They have to be to be survive.  That's Uncle Phil in the foreground, I can't identify the others.

The rolling farmland of Cornwall. This hilltop was not far from the bed and breakfast we stayed during the Britstoc rally.

Sheep seem to be everywhere in the U.K.  Often they are free to roam across the roadways, so it pays to be careful.  This picture is somewhere in Cornwall.

This mansion can be found on Ocean Drive in Newport, Rhode Island.  A large percentage of the American population lives near the coast.  But at least these folks are far enough north to escape hurricanes.  The trade off being the water is too cold to enjoy and the beach is nothing to write home about.

The coastal beauty of Prince Edward Island.  I enjoyed my time on the island and found it scenic and quiet.  I spent the day meandering around with no place special to be.

The RT in Northern Maine.  I get many positive comments on the looks of the bike. Nothing I've ever been on, has generated so many accolades on the styling.  A great motorcycle.

Take a beautiful day, a great motorcycle, plenty of time, and you have a recipe for a great ride.  I did on U.S. 421.  In this picture the highway is bending up hill over a series of nice curves.  Outstanding.  Ride it if you find yourself in the area.

I was sitting on the table enjoying my Mountain Dew and crackers when these 2 riders pulled in to gas up.  They were about to take on U.S. 421.  The store is located at the cross roads known as Shady Valley.
