A Photo Essay of
fall in the American East-Most
know fall as my favorite time of year. For the last 4 years I've loaded up
one my Hondas and traveled north to bring in the season. This album is a
collection of photos from those tours. A few you have seen before,
and some you haven't. I wanted to put my best fall pictures in one album,
if for no other reason than to give me a place to come enjoy them, and I hope
you do to.
When I'm alone on the
road this song by Willie Nelson often comes to mind, probably because fall is a
romantic time of year.

This
side road can be found on VT. 100 near the Coolidge Historical Site. The
isolated lane looked far more interesting than anything I saw at the historical
site.
Fall Tour 03

One of my favorite fall pictures. Taken in Ohio in 04. The old
house reminded me of the ghost stories I use to hear around campfires.
The 04 Fall Tour
This
Vermont farm sits quietly in the hills.
The 03 Fall Tour
Although
the Northeast is the most famous destination for fall color, the region does not
have exclusive rights to the season. This snapshot was captured in
Winterset, Iowa.
Heartland Tour 2002
One
of the most "famous" fall images on the BamaRider web site.
Found on the intro page of the 03 Fall Tour. Captured in the White
Mountains of New Hampshire. I'm often asked for the exact location, but
unfortunately I fail to remember.
The 03 Fall Tour
The
rolling hills of Southeast Ohio. What a great ride I had there. The SR in
the photo is Ohio 800.
The O4 Fall Tour

"Uncle" Phil Derryberry and I were in Canada
in 2001, my first tour of the region. We were taking a break at a rest
area on PR 17 near Espanola, Ontario, when our 1100's posed for this pic.
The photo is from the pre digital days, and as result, not as sharp.
Canada and New England Tour 2001
A
lonely covered bridge stands in the woods of Southeast Ohio. Taken
somewhere on SR 26. The 1300 and I made 2 passes over the old
bridge.
From the 04 Fall Tour
This
scene is somewhere in New Jersey.
From the 03 Fall Tour
I
had no idea when I took this image it would turn out the way it did. This Pennsylvania
hillside, full of brilliant orange and red foliage best typifies what fall is
about in the Northeast.
The 04 Fall Tour
SR
26 in New York snakes it way past the colorful Catskill Mountains, on its way to
the Hudson Valley.
The 04 Fall Tour
The
local road in this picture takes a Long Rider to the mythical turned reality
village of Burke's Garden, Virginia. A beautiful place to spend a little
time when on a tour exploring. Because of their northern location in the
South, the Blue Ridge and the Shenandoah offers southern riders a glimpse of
what a real fall is like.
