Exploring North America...One Road at a Time

West Coast Tour 2005-  The following pictures are in no particular order.  I hope you enjoy the album and the music.  The song is Lodi; by Creedence Clearwater Revival circa 1969.  The story of a wayward drifter who finds himself stranded in of all places Lodi, California.  The song came to mind because I spent time near the city on this tour, and wondered what I'd do if I was out of time and money.

Lodi- one of the all time Long Riding songs.

The loneliness of the Colorado Front Range.  The flag flies proud in front of the Pritchett, Colorado post office.  The wind whips through this lonely place, the only noise you are likely to hear if you stop and listen.

The Pacific Coast Highway looking south from a low a spot near the water.  The Bixby Bridge gracefully spans the canyon.

California Route 49 snarls through the Gold Rush Country of the Sierras.  Miles and miles of great curves.  I leaned all day long on my way to Oregon.  There are so many roads to lean in California, I don't know if I'll ever get them all, but I'm going to give it a try.

This carefully manicured valley is somewhere on California Route 299.  I was riding across a series of mountains when I stopped for this picture.

This field of yellow flowers caught my attention on a late afternoon ride across the Great Plains of North Dakota.  The scene reminded me of the U.K.

These Montana buttes are some where on SR 200 west of Great Falls. The land is open range and cattle had free roam.

The empty miles of the Oregon Outback.  I blistered this road at triple digits.  The ST 1300 couldn't be held back, and I gave it free reign.  No highways of this type exist back east.  There are roads out west so desolate, and free, no one cares how fast you ride.

I just missed these rain clouds riding east on SR 200 in Montana.  Sometimes you're just plain lucky.

The Great Mississippi River.  The Great River Road follows the river for many miles.  This scene is from the east side, somewhere in Wisconsin.

Checking out the old house on SR 24, near Hanksville, Utah.  Why I have a fascination with such places, I don't know.

Riding the back roads of Colorado, I was consistently treated to great scenery and challenging roads.  I was alone with my thoughts for many miles when I decided to stop and admire the view.  This valley was unusually peaceful and tranquil looking.

If I ever drift into a town, out of time and money,  I guess I'll get a job flippin burgers for enough gas to get back to Alabama, cause I can't sing a lick.  Ride safe brothers, and I'll see ya on the roads one day.
