Day 7 Kathleen was right on time and picked me up for Mass promptly up at 10:45 am. "Morning," she said to me as I got in the car. "Hey sweetie, don't wanna be late." "I told my mother we were going to church then something to eat, and then your were going to take me out on your motorcycle." "What'd she say about all that?" "Nothing just said have a good time. She likes you." "That only cause I'm Catholic." "probably" When the service was over, we went to the Bonanza Steakhouse for lunch. We spoke about some personal matters, and what the coming months might bring. The conversations always seemed to go back to that topic. It was uncomfortable for a 18 year old guy that just wanted to hang out and have fun. I was not inclined to settle down at this time. We went back to my sisters and I got out the Honda. It was the second time she has had been on the back of my bike. (The little Honda definitely didn't like 2 up, but I managed.) I took her down to Southside and rode along the river, we stopped for a ice cream at the little bait shop. (The store is still there, but the table by the water is gone. I still think about this day whenever I pass through Southside. You can see the area from the bridge that crosses the Coosa.) We rode around Gadsden another hour and made it back home around 5. It was hot and we went swimming in my sister's pool. For supper my sister prepared a nice meal of chicken and rice. Kath hung around as late as she could, and then she had to go. I walked her out to the car. "When are you leaving?" "In the morning." "Come by and tell me bye on your way out." "Ok" I spent the rest of the evening chatting with my sister. I could tell she wanted to talk about Kath, but was not brave enough to bring up the subject. After she went to bed, I scribbled a few notes, then went to bed. I was leaving for LaGrange, Georgia in the morning to spend the night with my dad who was in town working. Next- My first viisit to Cheaha Mountain and spending the night with my dad.
